Vintage Measuring Cup Shadow Box Ornaments

I often buy things at the thrift stores that I love or find interesting even though I don't know what I'm going to do with them.
But when I saw a vintage aluminum measuring cup set I knew right away that they would be perfect as shadow box Christmas ornaments.
But when I saw a vintage aluminum measuring cup set I knew right away that they would be perfect as shadow box Christmas ornaments.
That same day I found three sweet little angels, and they fit perfectly inside the measuring cups. How lucky was that?
For this project I needed some Mod Podge, some of that lovely irridescent snow like glitter, and some red glitter that didn't make it into the photo.
The first thing I did was apply Mod Podge to the inside of the measuring cups.
Then I sprinkled the inside with the white snowy glitter, and then just a hint of the red just for fun.
I did three layers of glitter, with Mod Podge applied in between each layer. Be sure to let each layer dry completely before adding the next one. The MP goes on milky white but it dries clear.
Here they are after all three layers were done. The outside of the cups will be left natural.
I wanted to dress these up a little so I added some strings of faux glass pearls from a vintage necklace around the outside with E6000 glue.
Here's what the backs look like.
And these sweet angel measuring cup ornaments are ready to put on the tree.
Enjoyed the project?
