DIY Scarf Tray

Hey there, Hometalk Friends! I've got a sweet makeover for you today. I was challenged a little while back to repurpose a scarf. I rolled up my sleeves and went digging around my garage to see what I could come up with to create something new out of this estate sale scarf I scored for one whole dollar:
I found these frames and knew exactly how I would marry a scarf to one.
I turned them into this pretty tray!
I just love how this turned out. I have it on my dressing table in my bedroom holding this sweet photo of me and my Hubby at our wedding.
To create this, I painted my frame in DIY chalk paint (recipe found on my blog at the link at the bottom).
Then I cleaned the glass and reinserted it, then added the scarf which I cut to fit, followed by the original backing. Then I made it all pretty with some polka dot craft paper.
These handles were extras left over from another makeover, so they got a coat of paint as well:
Then I drilled holes in the top of the frame and attached the handles with E6000 glue.
These were pieces I inherited from my Dad's woodworking supplies when he decided to give up building furniture, and they made perfect feet for my tray...
It turned out so sweet.
I sell most of the things I repurpose, but this one was a keeper! To see more posts like this, visit my Project Gallery on my blog at the link below! :)

Margaret Kendall on Jan 03, 2017I will definitely try this! I have all sizes of old frames laying about, and scarves can be picked up 2 for $1 at the Goodwill. Restore might have the classy hardware for the handles, have to look there. There's always yard sales!
