A Dresser Turned TV Stand

I recently moved and ended up with extra furniture. When I was unsuccessful at finding a new owner for some bedroom furniture, I decided I'd take on another refinishing project and got to it!
This is the original dresser...
I started by removing the mirror (donated to Goodwill), the top two drawers, which I had no plans to use again and all the hardware. Once this was done, I wiped the entire surface area down using soapy water and then Windex to remove any oils.
I then added two coats of Chaulk paint in a barn red. At first I thought it was going to be much brighter than I wanted, but I knew it would darken a bit with the glaze coat and it did!
Plywood saves the day!
I then got my fiancé involved and had him cut some pieces of plywood out for me and screw them down to be used as shelves. Two coats of finishing paste wax and I was almost done...
I neede to paint the shelves!
Just when it all looked good, I realized I needed to paint the shelves! So off they went and I used a spray paint to get a nice dark (and quick!) finish. I wanted them to look a bit rustic so the paint I used had a bit of gold sheen in it.
New hardware!
My fiancé had to drill some new homes, because I just could find the right size hardware to replace the original that I knew I wasn't going to be using again.
Our finished product! I used the shelves for our media components and the drawers hold movies, some stereo headphones, etc.
I'm so happy no one wanted this piece of furniture!

Hi, I can't believe I found this and thank you so much for posting it. We're currently using the exact dresser as a tv console and I've been wanting to refinish it for quite some time. This lets me know it will look nice. Yours turned out beautifully! Hope mine does too.
