Craftsman & Dutch Door Inspired DIY Baby/Pet Gate

As soon as our our son started crawling, he would go straight for the stairs. While we could have easily installed a store-bought gate, I wanted to try to design & build a custom gate that combined both craftsman & dutch door elements instead. While there are a couple of things I would have done differently, it turned out almost exactly how I had envisioned it & has been working great!
