Concrete is all the rage right now. But what you can make with concrete is limited to the molds you can find. Take a look at how I made these concrete pumpkins in 3 easy steps and 30 minutes - without any mold!! With this technique, you can make any shape and size you want - you are only limited by your imagination.

Start with a fast setting concrete mix. I used (affiliate) this one. I mixed per the directions for hand forming.
Use a dollar store pumpkin and slowly hand form the concrete all around.
Allow to dry and paint in your choice of color or pattern! Didn't I tell you it was really super simple!! Didn't they turn out amazing? I love quick and cheap crafts that look good. Check out my 5 minute Fall Wreath!

It looks like if you took a foam pumpkin (dollar store) and coated it, it would keep fairly well out in the elements? I can't find the plastic treat buckets everyone uses so your idea is a great option!
