Help the earth and fancy up your dinner with easy to sew cloth napkins! Can you iron and sew a fairly straight line? Then you can definitely make these!
Cut the fabric you have chosen into 18" X 18" squares. I find a cotton, medium weight fabric feels and works best. Iron the squares.
Fold each corner into a right triangle with 1" sides. Iron the corners.
Fold the outside edge of the triangle to meet the point. It will make a sort of rectangle. Iron each corner again.
Fold and iron the long edges of the napkin 1/2".
Fold each side 1/2" again. Iron.
Now you get to sew! Start at one corner and sew in 1". Reverse the machine and sew 1/2". Continue sewing forward to the next corner. With the needle pushed through the fabric, lift the foot of the machine and turn the fabric. Drop the foot and continue sewing to the next corner. At the final corner, sew to the edge, reverse the machine again, then sew off the edge. Cut the thread and you are finished!!
Napkins are fancy, washable, and reusable! Here's to you, Mother Earth! Enjoy!
