Candy Cane Makeovers

Need a fast & easy way to embellish Christmas gifts or add to your Christmas decor? I have 2 ideas on how to give plastic candy canes a makeover! The first project started with Dollar Tree plastic candy canes. I made 12.
I purchased this Isaac Mizrahi Craft yarn at Michael's. The color is Rockefeller.
This Isaac Mizrahi yarn is a soft white yarn with a knotted variegated thread wrapped around it that really shines in the lights of the Christmas tree.
I just wrapped the thread around the candy cane and secured it with a dab of hot glue at the top.
This yarn produced an elegant candy cane - if there is such a thing!
I had tons of yarn left and made some companion projects to be featured soon on my blog.
The second project was made with tinsel wire garland and some old plastic candy canes that were headed for the trash.
I hadn't been into one particular Christmas storage box since 2010. When I saw these plastic candy canes, I wondered why on earth I kept them. Perfect candidates for a makeover, right!
Since this narrow tinsel garland (Walmart on clearance last year) has a wire running through it, it was easy to wrap and secure it around these old candy canes. I had all 10 of them done in no time at all.
They ended up being the perfect little addition to a small tree I have on our stair landing.
There you have it - 2 quick and inexpensive ways to make something not-quite-so-beautiful into something beautiful.
