Cement Blocks Raised Garden Bed

4 Materials
A few years ago, I used some cement blocks to make a succulent plant shelving unit. I was never quite satisfied with the way it looked, so I took it all apart and remade it into a raised garden bed.

I'm loving the look now. I used additional planters and some cement decorative pieces to soften the look up.

It was easy to do and looks great in my large garden bed.
When I took it all apart I ended up with 16 cement blocks.
This is the way it looked a few years ago. I liked the shelving aspect but hated all the holes on the front. See the whole tutorial on my blog.
A decorative cement piece gave me an additional plant shelf.
Here it is, all planted. I added an extra plant stand and larger planters on the sides and front to soften the look.

Really pretty! Is it true that garden edibles should not be grown in the

    cement blocks?

Perennials may not survive in the concrete blocks, depending on your winters. Raised containers will freeze from the sides. This will add more stress to the plants. If you are in a warmer zone, they may do fine.
