Mid Century Table Makeover Video

I have previously shared the makeover of this free, garage sale leftover mid century table. I shared a video and written tutorial on how to paint over laminate and create a durable finish that will last.
This is how it was looking when it cam home with me. Overall it had great bones. The things I didn't like were the top was a faux wood laminate and the front drawer was plastic that didn't look very real in person. I thought paint would give it all the same finish and look and hide those faux wood parts.
This video shows the whole makeover start to finish. From removing hardware, prepping the piece by sanding, filling, sanding, cleaning and priming. The prep is very important when painting over slick surfaces like plastic and laminate. Providing the primer and paint something to stick to is what will create a long-lasting finish.
After all the prep and priming I sprayed on 2 coats of a custom mixed General Finishes paint color. I mixed some blue, green, black and grey together to get the dark teal color that I was after. After the 2 coats of paint I sealed the piece with GF high performance topcoat in satin to help it stand up to wear. Watch the video above to see the whole process.
