The odds of this makeover happening are so slim. My blogging friend, Gina from The Shabby Creek Cottage and I live far from each other (Tennessee and Iowa to be exact), but we found almost the exact same buffet to make over on the same weekend without planning it! What are the odds of that? When we found that out, we had to bring the makeovers together to share the difference in our vision for them.
My buffet was missing some veneer on the bottom and had tons of scratches all over it. I knew I was going to paint it when I got it home so the "problems" it had didn't scare me off.
Whenever I paint a shiny finish, I either like to sand it or use a liquid sander product. For this one, I used the {aff} Latex Agent Oil Bond. I spread it on with a cotton cloth and let it dry before I paint.
I chose {aff} "Bedford" from Fusion Mineral Paint for this buffet. Isn't it a gorgeous color?! It really made the original hardware stand out better and you notice the details on the buffet so much better now.
I know some people don't like to paint wood furniture, but this wasn't an heirloom and there were so many scratches all over it that paint was the route I decided to go with and I am so happy I did.
To see more about the transformation and to read the entire story of how this makeover came about, head over to the blog. There is a link to Gina's buffet in that post as well! You will definitely want to check it out! http://mycreativedays.porch.com/diy-buffet-makeover-2/

That is just so sad... :'( I love old, antique furniture. Refinishing would have been so much more appropriate than painting. Loved it as it was...and the white ruined it.

It didn't ruin it. I like the outcome!

Have a question about this project?
I have one similar to this. Great way to spruce it up. Did you put wood putty in the missing spaces? Mine has a few small holes and missing wood.
is this paint like an alternative to chalk paint?
