Found an old teapot and mug set that would be perfect for a bird feeder.
Found this set and loved the design
Went to my local store that has barn wood and found the perfect piece.
Sanded it down to clean it up.
Figured out placement.
From personal experience I used a watercolor pencil to make my marks. It will disolve with the stain and I don't have to erase it. I also cut off an end to use as the shelf for the cup.
I cut a hole in the main board that would securely fit the shelf piece.
I stained it with a mixture of "Molly Red Pepper" "Squirrel" and "Rustic Reality" Unicorn SPiT.
Because Unicorn SPiT is water based and non toxic I sealed it with food grade White Mineral Oil. I wanted it non toxic since it will attract animals.
On the back I added a hanger.
I drilled 3 holes for the teapot. I twisted the wire to hold the pot.
I drilled small holes in the shelf and added some wire to hold the cup.
I filled the teapot with birdseed and wired the lid on.
Add a dab of glue to the shelf and secure it in the hole. I added some seed to the cup so the entire teapot wouldn't empty all at once.
Hang it up and enjoy.
The teapot will empty into the cup as it gets eaten.
