Fall leaves are so beautiful, especially if you are lucky enough to live in a place where there are so many colors. I have preserved fall leaves so many different ways - drying them, ironing them in wax paper, and Mod Podge preserving them. After you do all the preserving what to do with them? This year I'm using some natural fall decor in my home. I have pinecones on my mantel, and I wanted to do something with leaves. I have had this branch for a few years know trying to thing of the right project - then I realized - this is it!!! Find out what I'm doing now...

We want to help you DIY, so some of the materials in this post are linked to sellers. Just so you know, Hometalk may collect a small share of sales from the links on this page.
You can also get all the materials in Amazon
  • Fishline (Amazon)
  • Mod podge (Amazon)
  • Paint Brush (Amazon)
  • Leaves (Outside)
  • Branch (Outside)
  • Scissors (On-hand)

You can use your leaves as they are or you can preserve them to keep the color.  If you leave them natural they will curl and change color as they dry, but it can be a beautiful and natrual look.  To preserve them you'll need some Mod Podge and a paint brush.
You'll need to do this step as soon as possible after collecting the leaves.  This will preserve the color the best.
After Mod Podging the leaves, let them dry completely.
After they are completely dry, you'll need scissors and some fish line.
Tie a loop on one end of the fish line - this is how you will hang it.  On the other end that touches the leaf you have 2 options.  The first is to tie the fish line to the stem of the leaf or ...
Use hot glue to attach the fish line to the leaf.
For the next step you'll need a branch.  Any shape, size, look that suits you.
Hang the loop end opposite the leaves onto the branch.
Spread the leaves out however you like along the branch.
Once you have them spread out the way you like, it's time to decide where you would like to display your natural fall decor.
Perhaps above your eating area in your kitchen or dining room, or maybe above your mantel and fire place... there are so many possibilities!
I'll be making this and more natural fall decorations on Hometalk's Facebook Live DIY - September 10th at 7pm EST.
