Preserve beautiful fall leaves for fall drink coasters! Now is the time to go out and pick up some of those beautiful leaves and dry them for future projects. So get out there and start collecting those leaves!!!
I did three different versions and you can see exactly how I made them in the video above, or HERE!

Here are highlights that should give you a pretty good idea on how they were made!
The first one is a beautiful fall leaf. We are going preserve it in all it's glory and make it functional to hold our cold drinks, so they don't ruin our furniture! So start out by laying down some parchment paper to work with. Resin will not stick to parchment paper.
The first think I did was mix some resin. There are all kinds of resins out there, so pick one that works for you! How much you need will depend on the size of your leaf. You will probably need around a half an ounce. Then, start dripping, or brushing the resin on the leaf, until you get the one side covered.
Carefully, use a lighter to pop any bubbles in the resin. I want you to be very careful. Remember, you are working with a leaf and you don't want to set it on fire! icon icon icon
When that cures, you can repeat on the backside any you will wind up with a fun and beautiful coaster! Nature at its best!!
Pull out your coaster mold (If you need one, you can find a link on the original blogpost HERE!). I used metallic pigment powders and brushed the molds, for a nice accent. I tapped off the excess.
I mixed resin and added some pigments for beautiful color.
Pour the resin into the molds. Pop the bubbles with a lighter and let them cure.
While the resin is curing, you can seal your leaves, with Mod Podge and make sure they are completely dry - front and back - before moving forward. Once the leaves are dry and the resin has cured, you can glue your leaves into place. Again, let the glue dry.
Mix more resin (about 2 ounces) and pour it over the leaves. Then pop the bubbles with your lighter. Because there might be air pockets under the leaves, make sure you check back often and keep popping, until they stop. Then allow them to cure at least 12 hours.
Once cured, you have these great coasters, with preserved fall leaves! You can wow your guests with coasters for every season!
