Silhouette Cameo Christmas Village
A great way to become more comfortable with your new Silhouette Cameo is to tackle a basic project like this pretty Christmas Village. You can do something similar during any holiday, but I can walk you through the steps to learn the basics.
I’ve been attempting to add little “pops of white” in my holiday decor this year, and I love the white painted Christmas villages I’ve been seeing lately on Pinterest. So I was inspired to try my own paper version of a Christmas village – Silhouette style.
After years of making doing most of my crafts the old fashioned way, my husband bought me a Silhouette Cameo. There is a bit of a learning curve, but I absolutely love it! My Christmas Village is one of the many things I've created! In fact, the Silhouette paid for itself - - I made (and sold) several farmhouse style signs, thanks to the Silhouette. Worth the investment and a huge time saver.
I hopped onto the Silhouette Design Store and WOW! So many patterns to choose from! And perfect for a nice, fresh look to my tabletop vignettes this holiday season. I simply cut the patterns (already pre-made) and pieced them together using glue dots.
The cut settings for poster board.
Once it's cut, you remove the excess paper - what remains on your cut mat is your design. Then carefully remove your design, the sticky cut mat does the weeding for you.
Posterboard can be cut down and placed on your Silhouette cut mat. Then set up your machine using these settings. If you don't have a Silhouette but you love making your own cards (or signs) this is a great machine. I typically do farmhouse style signs which are slightly more complicated, but this project is so easy.
Fold at the dotted line, then piece your houses together like a puzzle. It's addicting, and so easy once you get the hang of the machine.
This portion you can throw away...
Once you buy the designs inside of the Silhouette Design store, they can be used year after year! For more details on materials, click the link to learn more.
