A customer of mine had her home on the market for sale. She had several pieces of furniture that she wanted me to refurbish. She has 5 children so needless to say the pieces had had their fair share of use. I had a very short period of time to get all of these pieces ready for placement in her home. This is one piece she asked me to refurbish. Wow, what a challenge!! This project cost me nothing as it was a commissioned project. All cost was built into the cost of supplies and labor and billed to the customer.
This is a picture of the table before I started my transformation of this piece.
The base of the table. Time for work to begin. I sanded down the entire table. I wanted to get all of the dirt and grime off the table and smooth out all of the bumps and scratches. I used Behr Latex Eggshell paint and mixed it with chalk powder to make my own chalk paint. Believe me, when I say that mixing your own chalk paint is less expensive and just as durable as purchasing chalk paint.
To give the table depth and show off all of the unique designs of the wood I suggested that she use 2 colors. She likes neutral colors. I took some color pallets over for her to look at. Together we chose these 2 colors. They compliment each other and give the table an elegant stylish look. Once the table is painted and the paint is dry I seal it with 2 coats of Johnson's Clear Paste Wax. After the wax has set for about 20 minutes I give it a good buffing with a buffing pad attached to my hand sander.
Patting myself on the back this table looked like she bought it a high-end furniture retailer.
