I recently put together a tutorial on 5 simple ways to decorate farmhouse style, using simplicity and minimal items. I shared how using bigger items will require less "things" using Black and White as a classic eye catching color pallet and using a variety of different textures like wood, galvanized etc.
I started by deciding which items I would be using in each areas, matching up area spacing with the size of different items, making sure colors and textures flowed together
In the kitchen I used black and white with natural wood tones and added greenery and fresh lemons as decor for a pop of color.
I added greenery to my black door and a small frame to the center of the wreath
On my console table I went with less is more and used bigger items to fill the space instead of small items, which make spaces look cluttered. I used a large glass vase and filled it with simple cotton stems, along with a ceramic jug filled with Hydrangeas and used framed quotes as layered art.
In my bathroom I used these thrifted shelves from a local thrift store and use necessities to decorate. I love how you can fill apothecary jars with daily essentials.
I picked up some hand soaps in amber glass bottles to give is a antiqued feel.
In the living-room I used two $10 drop clothes as curtains and a neutral colored jute rug from Target.
I used one drop cloth to make all of these pillow covers. I like using lighter colors to accent my dark furniture.
