Sue has shared her kitchen makeover with us for our Facebook Group's February contest !!! Amazing !
Hi Randi,
I saw a pic on one of the sights with a beautiful kitchen redone in greys, I looked at my kitchen with the burnt orange walls and honey oak cupboards and thought....I want that! So we did!
Great video !!! we can all learn so much from this project !!
The process I did for the cupboards was to:
1. Remove all doors and hardware...we used little snack size baggies to put the set of hinges in for each door and numbered each door.
Scrub down all the cupboards and cabinets with TSP and then rinse.
Painted everything with primer (I used Bullseye 123) This step may or may not be necessary, but I've never done this before and I wanted to.
I used 2 coats of Dutchboy Chalky Finish paint. It was beautiful to work with, excellent coverage, reasonably priced....and I could tint it to the exact colour I wanted (which was one shade lighter than my walls).
I applied 2 coats of Varathane Crystal Clear varnish to all doors and drawers, 3 coats on the cabinet bases.
I used US Weathered Daydream mixed with a bit of White Ning and water to enhance all my doors and drawers.
Once the SPiT dried, I rubbed it with one coat of Wipe-On Poly.
After the Poly dried, 2 more coats of the Crystal Clear was applied.
My Hubby sprayed all the handles and hinges with Rustoleum Metalic Spray in Satin Nickel then a coat of Krylon Clear Coat.
It was a long process with all the drying times...but So worth it!
