We spend a lot of time on our front porch. That is why we were excited to learn that this week's challenge post was "Front Door." As you can see, we had a clean slate so all we had to do was to get to work. We purchased a Schlage Brass handle set with Plymouth knob and a Don-Jo Brass kick plate. Sorry, but I was so excited about the project that I did not take photos of the hardware.
As you can see our door was just that - a door. Totally non -descript with no redeeming qualities other than it gave us a lot to work with and a way to enter the house.
We changed out the old faded knob for a beautiful, shiny handle set. It took us about one and a half hours to install the new handle and lock set.
We also decided to add a matching kick plate. This added a bit of glam to the overall door. How did we ever live without it?
To top the whole thing off, I made an Easter wreath made from Dollar Tree plastic eggs. The pop of color really pulled everything together.
We framed the door with some lovely evergreens and complementary pots.
Our final project is a lovely compilation of things that are seasonal, practical and overall just lovely. We hope you like it too.
