Spring is Knocking at My DOOR...

I don't know about you, but I am SO ready for spring. All the snow stuff is put away and the crocus and daffodils are sticking their little heads out of the ground. And the door to my utility closed (situated right at the front door of my condo! Really?!) needs some love; and this is what I came up with.

First, I gathered all my materials:
I had this great old frame, that had been outside and taken a beating, so I gave it a good sanding, to remove any loose paint and smooth all the rough spots. Then I gave it a nice coat of paint.
I love this color! When the paint was dry, I added some styrofoam to the lower left corner of the frame. Securing with wire and hot glue. I applied the glue to the frame first, and let it cool slightly, so as not to melt the styrofoam then I secured it to the frame with some wire.
This is going to be the anchor, for my floral arrangement.

I then started to add the beautiful silk flowers I got at Michaels, at 50% off. The colors made me really happy. I started with the large peony, and worked my way up the left side, and across the bottom to the right corner.
I had some rustic looking "ribbon" which came off a gift basket a while back which I added to the corner as well.

For this project, I also included some of my own paper flowers hot glued to twigs that Mother Nature provided this past weekend, when the Nor'easter stormed through Long Island. WOW!

I love using actual twigs with paper flowers, it just gives them a more realistic look. (I will post a tutorial on these flowers later on in the week).

I also picked up a small birdhouse at Joanne Fabrics and gave it a light coat of paint and suspended it from the frame with some cord.

When all was said and done:

Oh soooooooooooo much better!

Happy crafting everyone. Happy almost Spring!
