From old age to all the rage
The before
When you get these old cabinets sometimes they come with issues (problem areas) but it was worth the risk to me. Even though I had to watch a few you tube videos! Clean it up and fix the missing veneer, buckled areas etc. I used Minwax High Performance Wood Filler (Lowes) to fill it and missing veneer area and used wood glue to reapply any pulled up pieces and a clamp to hold it.
bit of primer
Because it is a dark going to white I put some primer on. Zinaser bulls eye 123 primer (Lowes)
I painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint pure white as the base. I used French linen to dry brush over accent areas and areas to appear aged. The drawer and inside the cabinet are also painted in french linen. The farmhouse sign was purchased at Hobby Lobby and I used wood glue with a clamp until it dried (and laid it on its back to avoid the glue running down).
Stencil stripe
This is a feed sack stripe stencil from Maison de Stencils. The paint color is napoleonic blue. I did this stripe up the drawer and up the inside of the cabinet. I used a foam brush.
stripe continuation and touch ups
Stripe continuation. Once cabinet stripe was finished. I distressed entire cabinet using sandpaper. Vacuum, wipe it down and 3 coats of a water based poly.
