Fabric Canvas Wall Art

Use your favorite fabric and plain old stretched canvases from the craft store to create custom art for any room of your house! Mix and match patterns and solids, or even add hand painted elements.
Start by choosing your canvas size. You could do a little one, like 5x7, for a small spot or as part of a large gallery wall. Or if you’re trying to create a real statement piece, use a larger canvas, like 18x24.
Cut the cloth to three inches larger than the canvas. So, if you want your fabric to cover and 8x10 canvas, add three inches to both measurements; and cut the fabric to 11″x13″.
Use a staple gun and the shortest staples you can find to attach the fabric to the back top of the canvas. It should be folded all the way around the back when you attach it.

Next, stretch it pretty tight, and then staple the back of the bottom. Do the sides last, stretching really tightly to remove any little wrinkles.
To make a set, you can even hand-paint a design from one fabric’s pattern onto a simpler piece of fabric, like I did with this cute little cactus! Just use acrylic paint and regular brushes after you’ve attached it to the canvas.
