DIY Kitchen Remodel on a Tight Budget

Our kitchen remodel took 6 months to complete (while we had a 4 month old baby!) and we did almost all of the labor ourselves. With no formal training, we tackled each project as they came along. The final cost of the entire remodel came down to under $3,500!
Before: brown, brown, and more BROWN. It was very closed in and dated.
Before & after of the eat-in kitchen space.
This entire renovation cost under $3500!! For a full source list & cost breakdown- see this post http://christinasadventures.com/2014/05/our-kitchen-all-the-details.html
Subway tiles, planked wall, butcher block, open shelving.
Enjoyed the project?

What an improvement !!! I am personally not a friend of shelving in the kitchen because of the grease build-up but I have to say you chose the perfect decoration to set them up and they look not cluttered. Well done !

Have a question about this project?
Who did the butcher block countertops?
who thinks $3500 is a tight budget ? Not me . Lovely job you did but this is not a renovation on the cheap
Beautiful renovation But $3500 is not a tight budget especially if you and your husband did most of the work. Unless, the majority of everything in the kitchen was replaced by purchase. Did you all build anything for this renovation or did you buy all new appliances, butcher block, and you did the installation and painting yourselves? I wish you had included some pictures of the work as it was being completed with pictures of you all doing it. $3500, I could have redone my kitchen, and bathroom. I do alot of DIY and upcycle. But it is beautiful, a DIY'er would have cried over $3500 dollars.
