Tea Caddy Display Shelf
When visiting my brother's house, my sister-in-law showed me the additions to her tin collection. The 'new' tea caddies were not on display yet and she said she was not sure where to put them. I noticed this unloved little shelf....sitting on a another shelf and told her, if she wanted me to, I will spruce it up for the latest ones ...and off I went with the old shelf, the tea caddies, a small plain white tea pot and two plain white children's tea cups.
The little shelf contained old bottles of medicine, which were disposed of and I wiped it down. It really looked ugly and had medicine stains. Undeterred, I went ahead and gave it a few coats of white acrylic paint, painted a basic pattern on the tea pot and cups with nail polish (which can be wiped off with nail polish remover anytime) and decorated the edges by gluing a pompom trim to it.
I added two little screw-in hooks to the bottom of the shelf to hang the cups.
The finished tea pot and an artificial flower was glued to the top and the shelf mounted to the wall with double sided tape.
The tea caddy shelf now displays the tins nicely in her kitchen for all to look at.
