I've had this desk for over 20 years. We took a top piece off the top & ripped out the keyboard drawer, a few years ago to make it more usable in our office. But those changes left some holes in the top I never filled. It's also still that ugly color & rather boring. So I decided to paint this sucker to make it more fun. Our office is red & blue- so I decided to use 2 colors of red chalk paint I had on hand.

Here is my old desk, after cleaning out all the dust & grime( it was pretty gross, I have to admit).

Here is where I filled in the spots with some wood filler. Once it dried overnight, I lightly sanded the top, so it would be ready to paint over.

Here is my main paint color.

Top view.

Front view. But it still looked a little flat to me. So I decided to add some dry brush of another, darker color over it.

Here's the accent paint.

Here's the side.

The finished project. I just love how it came out. The best part- I had all the supplies on hand- so it didn't cost me a dime!
