This project was nothing but fun!

For over a year I've wanted to DIY my own unique tea chest, and when I found a second wine box at my favorite thrift store, it was game on!
Have you even seen one of these at a thrift store?

Not long ago I would have thought that a crazy question to ask, but not now because I've learned that there are some things that show up over and over at thrift shops all over the place.

And wine boxes are one of them.

When I first saw one repurposed into a tea chest, my tea-loving heart was smitten! I just had to make one myself too and so began my search for a similar box on my thrifting adventures.
If you want the whole, long story of how I ended up with not one, but two wine boxes (yet only one for this project), those details are on the blog.

For now, I'm going to show you how I finally got that tea chest that's been on my DIY wish list for a long time!

To start the project, I removed the hinges and latch and gave the box a fresh coat of paint. The glossy paper decal on the front was attached well, so I gave it a coat of kilz first to make sure the paint would stick well.
Next, I used my Cricut Maker to make a fun stencil for the top.

I also used bright gold spray paint to update the hinges and latch.
After everything was dry, I reattached the lid and filled my chest with some of my favorite teas!
I love how it turned out!
