Scrap Wood American Flag

After a friend told me that they loved the wood American Flag in the Pottery Barn catalogue- I decided to surprise her and make her one! With some scrap wood and paint on hand- it came together pretty easily.
After deciding placement of the boards- I clamped and glued them together (you can see more of the process in the blog post). I then did a mixture of stains to achieve a worn look on the boards.
I then taped off and used a paint and water technique to achieve the white stars peaking through the blue. And watered down chalk paint to to do the red and white stripes to give it an aged look and allow the stain to show through.
I attached simple hanging hardware to the back and now it is ready to go wherever she would like it!
Happy Flag Day!
