How can I create more curb appeal ?
I bought an older brick home and I love it but want to give it some better curb appeal. I was thinking maybe shutters but then realized that some windows can’t even have them- any other suggestions would be awesome!

First, I’d remove those 2 trees so you can see the beautiful brick.
This might seem extreme but your house is perfect for a front porch! You’d likely have to go through permitting and hire a contractor but there are some expenses that are well worth it, and on your house, I’d say a porch spanning the front width of your house will add way more curb appeal than anything else. And it’s functional outdoor space! It will definitely increase the value of your home as buyers LOVE a traditional bungalow style.
If you’re not up for that kind of financial and time commitment, you might consider adding just a small porch covering with pretty columns to add interest and give you some protection from the weather on your porch.
Paint your railing white to make it pop more. Maybe consider refinishing your door to a high gloss darker stain. I would also add a walkway in front of the steps to draw the eye towards your door. Line both sides of the walkway with small flowering perennials so you aren’t replacing them every year. Add a hedge around the front of your house and some flowers in front of the hedge.
Maybe add an arbor/trellis/pergola over the entrance to the walkway and train a flowering vine up and over it.
Hope some of these ideas help. Post an “after” pic in the comments once you’re done! Good luck!
What a cute house. I love it too but every window is a different style. Add trim to the top left window to match the door and right side top window. I can't see the left lower window but hopefully it has white trim like the lower right window. It looks like there might be a walkway going from the front door to the driveway. If so you could landscape the area between it and the house. It's too bad the large bushes/trees weren't planted out on the corners. If you can't move them get rid of them but do put something tall on the left corner at least, maybe a small flowering tree like a red bud or dogwood.. Right now the roof is too close to the same color as the brick. When you need a new roof get a darker color, dark gray or even black.
Since fall is here, you can also add colorful pumpkins up the steps and a wreath to distract from the rest of the house. It’s a beautiful house, but I think adding pops of color can make a world of didference!
Hi there, You could Clad with boarding etc. the top part of your house from the top of your entrance up to line up with the sloping roof. You could add shutters to the window on the left hand side as shown on screen and window boxes on both windows at this level. Shape the two trees into identical shapes(maybe two balls- one on top of the other) that will let you see through them to the house and will enhance it rather than hide it.
Take away the small pots of flowers at the door. Stain or Paint the door a bright cheery colour and place large Contains of flowers at bottom of steps as a welcome. This house could look awesome! Best wishes....
For curb appeal some people add crown molds above the windows and door (on the first floor for windows). Painting the door and even frames will change the look. Also, landscaping with smaller bushes (or if you can cut them way back) in the front and more of a curved planter out front will change it immensely. Making a stepping stone or contained gravel walkway or something similar from the drive way to the front door also makes it feel more inviting. How to Boost Your Curb Appeal on a Budget!
You don't have to have shutters on every window. The window to the left of the front door could use shutters and a big window box with real or faux plants. Trim the big bush back or remove it next to the picture window and do a window box at that picture window also. Window boxes could add color to the brick house. Boxes in rich blue, deep lime green, violet and shutters same color.
Such a cute house! Love the updates.
