I had 2 rooms left in my house with ugly, stained carpet left. We ripped it out on 2 separate occasions. I'm combining them here, just for the sake of simplicity. The steps are similar, the mess is the same. But thankfully one room was so much easier! There was damage to one floor, so we had to paint it. The other was practically perfect, so we were able to clean it up & apply poly, thankfully!
Here is a before photo- ugly right? Sorry for the mess- I didn't take a pic of the room empty before he started ripping! This is actually the other room that we had everything crammed into!
Here is the mess we found under the carpet & padding- YUCK! Now you see why we ended up painting it!
Yucky padding & carpet- just an allergy factory!
He had to work so hard cutting & placing trim. Nothing in this room was easy.
After the first coat of paint- which I found as an oops paint at Lowe's- gotta love it!
After the 2nd coat & the trim we had to put in. The carpet was placed so badly, we had to actually ad trim all around!
Here is our gallon of oops paint- got it for $9.00!
Here is the before of the 2nd room- not as bad- but still not great.
Here is the after, but before poly- not bad!
We used Minwax one coat poly. He still insisted on 2 coats! This stuff is great because it dries super fast!
Here he is hard at work! This floor shines so nicely now!
