Grab a corner with a pair of pliers, then just pull away from one wall, roll it up and out.

I normally cut it up into smaller rolls with a utility knife to make it easier to take out of the house.

Go to the far corner and start pulling up. Roll it or fold it as you go.
Use a box cutter and cut it into strips as you roll so it's not as giant and heavy as you rip it up. If it's super old wear a mask and gloves. Creepy stuff could be lurking in there.
I agree. Make easy for you and your garbage collector. Cut it in three foot wide strips and roll it up. Use duct tape or rope so it doen't unroll.
