French Calligraphy Table

I needed a table to place my sewing machine on and really couldn't find one that fit the space or that I liked for it. Then one day while thrift shopping I found an old table that was falling apart and knew immediately it was perfect for what I wanted.
This is a picture of the before. After a few months of sitting in our garage. When we found it the top was warped along with some scratches and dents; and bowed and it was missing the brace across the bottom. I didn't get to it right away so it sat in our hot garage over the summer with a bunch of heavy stuff sitting on it.
To my surprise the top flattened out nicely so, I brought it in and put two coats of DIY white chalk paint on it. But, it looked a bit plain and I wanted something a little more French to fit in with the decor of my craft space.
I found a French calligraphy label at The Graphics Fairy and printed it off then copied it onto the table with Sharpies.
I then dry brushed it with a watered down mix of burnt sienna craft paint to age it a bit.
I love how it turned out. It fits into my craft room decor perfectly and epics that French style/feel that I love so much. And, it make a perfect sewing table as I knew it would. For more details please follow the link below to the post.

Gloria tulip on Apr 01, 2015I saw your table and thought that it was a table meant to sit while writing, using the calligraphy style. I was delighted because I have a table like that and thought I could put it to use. (I recently took a class in that style of writing.) Then I realized that is not what you meant at all. Anyway I love how you painted your table and sure you will enjoy it.
