Dollar Store 3D Succulent Art
This DIY was inspired by a piece of art I saw while wandering the aisles of one of my favourite stores: HomeSense. The piece was a simple shadowbox that had three faux succulents displayed inside of it. I figured it would be a pretty simple idea to replicate, but I did hit a few snags along the way. So, rather than trying to replicate the piece exactly, I decided to take inspiration from it and create some fun, 3D artwork instead!
I started off by placing a piece of woven scrapbook paper inside my frame. This created a textured, neutral backdrop that resembled what I had seen in the HomeSense piece.
Next, I loaded up my hot glue gun with a glue stick capable of bonding items to glass, and began adhering my faux succulents to the front of my frame.
Tip: If you can't get your hands on this type of hot glue gun stick, a sturdy adhesive like E6000 will also work.
I thought about filling in the frame completely, but I quickly realized I much preferred how the piece looked when I focused on placing the succulents in the centre.
Once the glue had set, my 3D artwork was ready for its closeup!
Homemade artwork doesn't get easier than this, guys. And the best part is that this a project that's totally customizable. You can experiment with different shapes, sizes, colours, and layouts — and I guarantee whatever design you choose will look amazing.

Have a question about this project?
Maybe I misread this but is this a frame that comes with a glass which you removed, or, is it like a shadow box. You speak of gluing on to the glass but it appears to be just sitting inside the frame. Very pretty and nice idea.
How do you attach the glass to the frame- over fake flowers? Don't the Flowers lift the glass too high to fit on to the frame???
Pretty though I can't figure this out? I do like the Glass Idea covering the Flowers - but how can one do it?
Is this a shadow box or a picture frame?
