Guest Bedroom Makeover Mood Board and Design Plans

After my oldest son moved to Chicago last fall (he's getting his doctorate in Mathematics...yay!), we were left with an extra bedroom that we could use for guests. It was my youngest son's bedroom when we first moved in and he loved the light blue walls and baseball themed wallpaper. Me, not so much. My youngest son took over my oldest son's room since he'll only be coming to visit a few times a year instead of every school break like he used to. So, now I get the chance to give the room a makeover! I'll try to make it multi-functional as an office and a place to exercise so I can use the space everyday.

I really love the original 6 panel craftsman style doors and I'll be keeping them wood. Otherwise, I'll be painting all the dark trim white. It's not original to the house and was added in the early 90s.

This is how the room looked the day we moved in. I'll be adding a charcoal black shiplap accent wall where the bed is placed and the rest of the walls will be a soft white.

I'm stepping out of my comfort zone from my usual design style by using a mid-century modern dresser I'll use a nightstand. I found it Habitat for Humanity for a steal at $70. Refinished, they usually go for at least $2000. It needs some TLC so I'll have to figure out how to get rid of the water stains.

To give the room a feeling of serenity, I'll mix the warm browns from the furniture with a touch of green from the velvet pillows and artwork. Then, I'll and add in texture with the rug, baskets, and throw blanket. I'm really excited about this guest room redo and I can't wait to show you guys how it turns out!
