Kitchen Island Overhaul (with a Bonus Pantry Door to Match)
After we added new floors, this island just didn't "fit" in the color palette. A new quartz top, pretty glass knobs, and a coat of paint transformed my island into a cooks dream!
The original - ordered from Amazon of all places!
We did have the butcher block top replaced when we added our granite six years ago - but it was always so dark
Once the floors were done, I went to work to transform the space. We had two small stools on this side, but the space was wasted since we also have a eat in counter, so I decided to add shelves for extra storage. Our kitty Frodo loved them too...The shelves are actually pine stair treads from Home Depot that only cost about $10 each! They are my go to shelf options for any room, because they work perfectly for super sturdy solid wood shelves!
We also added pine trim boards underneath the decorative bottom trim. Between dust bunnies and kitty toys, it was pretty icky under there. This stops ALL of the gunk!
a before (black) and after using Behr Marquee "Masterpiece" grey
Before and after again. (The paint trays were to keep Frodo kitty off of the newly painted shelves)
Two coats of paint and some touch ups worked out perfectly
Added knobs and backplate,s from Hobby Lobby really stood out
With the white marble quartz, and the lighter color paint, (and the new floors) the island REALLY stands out so much nicer now!
I used my newly created shelves for my special baking needs
I liked the "Masterpiece" Grey color so much, I decided to paint our boring white pantry doors to match the island!
I even found matching door knobs at Hobby Lobby to match the island cabinet knobs too!
I ordered vinyl decals from two different Etsy shops which finished off the project!
