All-Natural Weed Killer
Vinegar and salt.
1 gallon vinegar, 2 cups epsom salt or pool salt or regular salt, 1/4 cup regular Dawn dish detergent. Excellent for killing weeds.
Boiling water.
I live in north Texas, the southern end of “The Great Plains”. I doubt if there is a weed in North America that is not found here, often in my yard, it seems. I follow the most aggressive recommendations from our garden centers. In late winter and again in mid-spring, we use a pre-emergent weed killer the the grass seed and fertilizer. During the summer, we use RoundUp, fire ant poison, and my vinegar-salt water-and a drop of Dawn weed killer for spot weed breakthroughs. In early fall, we use a general weed killer on vines that flourished where we don’t want them and some more pre-emergent. Autumns give us a whole new growing season. You may not need to be as aggressive as we, but we are too old to plow or hoe. There’s a joke in there somewhere. I’ll just say now:
When we were young, we painstakingly dug out the weeds,
With no poison, indeed!,
on our hands and knees,
and tended flowers just for the bees.
Now that we are older,
our attack is very much bolder,
killing weeds until the weather is much colder,
with poisons of powder, liquids and salt;
so just watch out for our assault!
Organic includes bugs, worms and non-GMA seeds.
But our lives today will not tolerate weeds!
best wishes, Jewell
