Home Made Natural Toilet Fizz
Here is a recipe for anyone trying to reduce the use of harsh chemicals in your home. Using natural, biodegradable products I have made a natural toilet cleaner :-)
These are the ingredients and tools i used. These cardboard boxes of bicarbonate of soda and citric acid can be picked up super cheap at shops like b and m,buyology, etc. Around £1.29 each. The jar i already had but they can be bought easily enough from anywhere. Measuring cups, orange essential oil (gifted by a friend but again easily sourced) and i also used a funnel and a dessert spoon later on.
I used 2 and 2/3 cups of bicarbonate of soda. You can halve this if you don't want to make so much. If doing this you'd need 1 and 1/3 cups. I used a funnel to put the powder into the jar
I used 1 full cup of citric acid powder, but again you could halve this and only use 1/2 cup. Again i used a funnel to put it into the jar (be careful not to breathe this in or get any in your eyes!) I then used a dessert spoon to mix the 2 powders together.
Next i added my essential oil. I chose orange as i think its a lovely fresh smell for a bathroom. You could use whatever scent you like. I added approx 20 drops into the mixture, abouut 5 at a time, stirring in between to ensure even distribution. The smell is reasonably strong, i like it. You can add more or less depending on how strong you want it to smell.
Here it is! The completed project in place and ready to use. I just now add 1 or 2 scoops/spoons into the toilet bowl after each flush and it smells lovely and has a satisfying fizz a few seconds after hitting the water.
Natural, eco friendly cleaning :-)
