What are they made of? Laminate or wood. You can paint them. There are kits made for going over laminate sold at home depot. Step by step instructions are in kit.
I would change a hardware and give them a fresh coat of paint.
Contact paper or wallpaper on the doors, replace hardware, maybe paint the frames.
Remove the doors completely if you are brave.
Hi ! Paint the or use removable wallpaper then change out the handles ! Removable wallpaper comes in so many styles from plain or traditional to cool and funky ... Check out sites like wallsneedlove.com , it tempaper.com !
good luck & have fun with it !!!
Marlas....You can add stencils, mod podge, freehand, or decals. They look like the cabinets my mother had in her old kitchen and after remodeling turned that room into a utility room. My daughter lives there now and we are getting ready to give it a facelift but the ideas you have been given here on Hometalk are excellent! Good luck
This is such an awesome idea.

You've got some awesome mid-century door handles! If you can't afford to redesign the kitchen I would find some other mid-century wallpaper or contact paper to cover the doors. Paint the frames in a coordinating color. Or paint it all and tape mid-century shapes on the doors. 😎

I would not remove those handles! I actually kinda like the way the doors look now. But paper would not hurt them, nor would paint. If you took a picture (or four) of the entire kitchen it would be much easier to give advice because the doors are just a tiny fraction of the whole decor. They do not stand alone. For instance we may recommend wall papering the doors when you have wall paper on the walls! Or we may (not me though) recommend removing the handles when they match others in the room.
