I've tried all kinds of drain cleaners with no luck so I bought a 15' drain snake and ran it through my clean out tee. It took a few trust but I finally got it and saved myself about $70.00. That's what the plumber wanted to charge me.

My problem with the shower drain has always been the hair that gets trapped, and then soap and other stuff attaches to the hair. I use a wire with a brush tip and barbs called a hair grabber to pull it out. You śometimes have to unscrew the cover to be able to grab it all.

Remove as much as possible with a snake or drain cleaning tool. Pour ½ cup baking soda then ½ cup white vinegar in the drain and cover, letting sit for 20 minutes. Boil water, remove cover, and pour water down the drain. You may have to repeat the process.
