Marbled Christmas Ornament Project With Spray Paint
This ornament was purchased at Restoration Hardware (clearance) -- and I embellished it with this spray paint dip method for a book club ornament exchange.
These glass ornaments work very well for this.
Wear gloves to keep yourself cleaning during the marbling process.
Get a bucket & fill it about halfway with water.
Spray paint any colors you want. I used red...add sprays of white and silver too! Just spray them straight into the bucket of water.
Slowly submerge and swirl the ornament through the paint and water.
Here's the marbling!!
You can clean off the extra paint with a paper towel.
I suspended the ornament on a stick to fully dry. I slid the stick right through the hole at the top of the ornament.
Next I added some glitter in all different colors.
Spray on clear Krylon... sprinkle with glitter.
Here's what I bought at Michaels for embellishment.
Thread wires of pearls through hole at the top of the ornament.
Finished! Merry Christmas!
Here are the spray paints and finishes that I used.
On the tree!!!! :-)
Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
How did you get the ornaments on the skewer without messing the paint up?
I tried this and it came out gloppy looking- is that how it's supposed to or am I doing something wrong? I expected a smooth marbled finish? Thank you
I thought they looked excellent just dipped into the water paint!!?
