Hi Beth, a great way to start an inexpensive makeover is definitely with paint. If your cabinets are still in good shape a new coat of paint and new hardware can really improve a space. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/kitchen-dining/kitchen-dining-furniture/how-to-renovate-your-kitchen-for-under-600-20279472
How to Renovate Your Kitchen For Under $600
really hard to make suggestions without seeing the kitchen as it looks now. I assume you will be using all the same appliances? For 5K, you could probably get some new cupboards, or maybe new counter tops, floor, paint job, curtains etc. Maybe lighting. Way back in the '80s the husband of a friend did the only major work we have had done in our extremely small kitchen. That involved removing a very large china cupboard that backed into the kitchen from the d.r., removing a wall that was on the short end of the kitchen opening into another room, building shelving to replace the china closet; remaking a free standing unit to be an island, putting real beadboard under the new shelving and adding new countertops (just laminate) Since then we have removed the flooring to expose original pine floors and put in a beadboard ceiling. WE paid only $500 for all that work and I am still amazed at such a low price. Post some pictures of your kitchen and you will get more answers.
PAINT is the #1 cheapest way!! ...on the cabinets and walls: PAINT! New fixtures, faucet, and cabinet knobs are another relatively inexpensive fix. Then... replace appliances that need it
Hi there, Any photos?
piant cupboards and get a new backsplash and countertop (I got laminate): https://happydealhappyday.com/how-to-paint-kitchen-cabinets-without-sanding/ I did mine for under 2K!
Paint on the cabinets gives a nice facelift. Add a budget backsplash, and then new laminate counter tops!
