Hello, A?ny pics. as is so I know what you have to work with
New bedding, some extra cushions and wall hangings would be a good start. If you had a picture of the room it would be a great help.
A picture would definitely help us. Sometimes rooms just need a full rearranging of the furniture to perk them up quite a bit! New bedding is also a lovely treat and can make a big change to the way the space looks and feels.
A new paint color with coordinating curtains and bed linens is always an easy fix.

Decorating Tips- How to Decorate your bedroom on a budget ...
Ved: simple and relatively cheap: Paint, new bedding and window treatments. (You may even find the bedding and window stuff on clearance at Home Goods or Marshalls)
Simple changes can make a huge difference. Since your friend is planning to be married before long, he'd be wise to take into consideration his wife to be's style as well as his own (if they are planing to live in his place). A few new items such as sheets and a classic bedspread should make a difference in the feel of the room. Organize so the wife will have space to add her personal items.
I would make sure you get the wife's approval on any changes. :) Ha, ha! I would think a fresh coat of paint, fresh new bedding that isn't too masculine or too girly... usually neutrals work wonderfully and then if they want to add in some accents with brighter colors or holiday decor, it'll work well with the neutrals. A nice cozy throw blanket is always nice on a bed.
Involve the future wife in the decisions to be done to their room, she has her own tastes and of course he does too, let them blend. Maybe some new furnishings like lamps, night stands, paint, bedding textures and colors. Curtains vs drapes vs blinds vs shades...decorative pillows. Change out the headboard or cover it with a new pattern.
Paint is the cheapest way to make a change. Then purchase a new bed in a bag set which is more cost effective way to change your bed linens.... www.brylanehomes.com has inexpensive sets.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
We are working on something and should have the pic soon.
He could paint it a neutral color, add some new bedding, add a rug, or add some new lighting

Check macys online for great buys on bedding, it is very durable. Paint goes a long way whether it's on the walls or the furniture, or both, and then new window dressing.
We added an accent wall that was not too expensive. https://alifeunfolding.com/adding-coastal-vibes-to-master-bedroom/

You can change out the art, piece by piece when you find art on sale. Hobby Lobby always has great sales. Throw pillows and blankets are another easy way to change the look up.
