How do I keep my chrome-based barstools dust free?
I have barstools at my kitchen island, they have a large circle chrome base. I can't seem to keep dust and pet hair to not stick on the chrome surface. I was thinking on using Pledge or something along those lines (like I would table top surfaces) but I was afraid it would look cloudy or hurt the chrome.

Polyshield X-Staticizing Dusting Spray, formerly known as Millennium Stay Clean, is a revolutionary dust repellent product formulated to reduce the static charge on your finished furniture surface, high-gloss pianos, and other household items, while providing added shine and polymer protection.
Don't use pledge or anything that is creamy. Not only will it dull the shine it actually attracts dust. Consider an automotive chrome cleaner like Eagle One Chrome Wheel Cleaner. It is formulated to clean wheels and help to repel brake dust. I like the idea Em posted. I may check it out. You can also use a duster that is designed to grab dust & reduce static. I firmly believe since I started using those, my household dust has lessened.
You should be able to use Endust. I don't think it would look cloudy. It's an ongoing job!
I wouldn’t use Pledge on them because it will cause them to rust- it’s not 100% wax.
Being winter, low humidity can cause more static in homes. Do you have a humidifier?
Do have a fresh furnace filter that’s at least a MERV 11? That will clean up the overall air quality.
Pledge will make it worse. Just wipe down quickly once a day. Chrome is like a magnet. I tired of it myself and switched out to wood. Chrome is a tough surface, not much will "hurt" it, but over time it will scratch due to daily wear and tear.
I don't think there's a way to be dust free, but, I use a long reach microfiber duster for any dusting that I can't reach with a regular microfiber cloth and find dusting much less of a chore.
I think just giving them a quick wipe every day like Naomie suggests is the best and easiest too. Pets are great! But their hair....not so good :)
You can use auto paste wax on the chrome. Put on with a clean cloth. Let haze over. Then buff it with a clean cloth. Don't use spray or liquid. Then just use a duster to clean any dust.
You could try rubbing them with dryer sheets to help avoid dust buildup.

There is no way to keep the bases dust free. When you have pets, kids, or just adults at home the dust mites are in the air and will fall on all surfaces. I would clean them good (don't use pledge or any wax) the just use a swiffer type to dust off when it seems really dusty. Good luck
I like the idea of using dryer sheets and a microfiber cloth cleaner to help keep them cleaner. You might just have to give them a quick rundown each day. If you have kids, maybe give it to one of them as a daily chore. It'd be quick to do and easy enough to delegate.
I like that idea !!!! If you have kids that sit on the stools , have them wipe them down 2x a week ! And if they are too small to sit on them , it would still be a good chore to give them !!!
Fabric Softner sheets work well.
Hello Elizabeth,
Wipe over with WD-40. It will help protect them as well.........Or you could cut a slice of hose or clear pipe and slit that through and slip that over the rail. Best wishes.
I wouldn't use Pledge, its just wax, then the dust and pet hair would stick to it..... ewww. Just run a dust mop over it every couple days, and/or get an air filter with a negative ion to get the dust out of your house. If you have a furnace, change the filter more regularly.
