DIY Miniature Potting Bench For Your Fairy Garden
If you enjoy making things for your fairy garden, you're going to love this little miniature potting bench. It's fun, easy and doesn't require any special tools or supplies either.
Isn't it just tooo cute? We added a few fairy leaf planters on the shelves so the fairies can start working their gardening magic.
To make a miniature potting bench all you need is:
- A few rusty nails
- Some Popsicle sticks
- Sharp scissors or craft knife
- Super Glue
- Wood stain (optional)
How to Make a Miniature Potting Bench
Start by creating a basic frame using the rusty nails. For our potting bench we used 2 long nails, 2 medium nails and 4 short ones. Place one long nail perpendicular to one medium nail and use the shorter nails to form "cross bars". Glue the nails down as shown in the piccy below. You'll need two "rusty nail frames".
For the shelves we used Popsicle sticks that have been stained with our homemade “ Rusty Nail Muti”. Love that stuff.
It's easy to make and turns new wood to old and weathered in minutes. You can paint or stain yours with whatever you have on hand.
Trim the Popsicle sticks with a pair of scissors or sharp craft knife so they fit on the rusty nail frame and then glue them together using a smaller piece of a Popsicle stick.
Glue the shelves down on the rusty nail frame and use a few more Popsicle sticks to create a "back" for the miniature potting bench.
Glue the back on and your potting bench is ready for those fairies to start planting.
The fairy potting bench will last a good few years, especially if the fairies remember to sprinkle a little fairy rust dust on it every now and again
I would love to know what you think of the potting bench and whether it's something that you would make for your fairy garden.

Hi Michelle, your potting bench is adorable and well made. Thank you for sharing your project. The leaf pots are genius.
For those wanting to start your own faerie garden, you do not need to make it all in one go. Start with the container that can be made from many things, check Pinterest or Hometalk for inspiration. Then make one thing at a time. Instead of buying your fairies you can make from polyclay. Take your time and just have fun creating :)
