Up Cycled Sofa Table
We found this little gem at an antique store in the damaged section and I fell in love immediately ! I Couldn’t wait to get home to start on it.
Here is how it looked after I cleaned it with some Murphy’s oil soap orange cleaner.
We removed the top part, which is just a frame that was around the top and will later turn into a chalk board.
Now it is nice and flat, ready for a new top.
My husband measured, cut and attached the new top with these beautiful wood planks, which actually link together like a tongue and groove. Using the original holes we attached the wood.
We wanted the edges to be rounded, not sharp, so we used a router tool. I love this look, it feels finished!
It’s a little dark in places, but it adds more character.
Using early American rust oleum stain, I covered the whole top and let it dry outside. Use this product outdoors as the fumes are very strong.
These staining pads are great for staining. I found them at Harbor freight.
Once dry, I took a brush, dipped it in white paint, ran the brush over one plank a little at a time, then took a damp cloth to rub it in a spread along the plank to get an even whitewashed look!
When you are happy with the color, Let dry, lightly sand, then finish and seal with a polyurethane.
I also painted over this piece with a soft mint color by magnolia home, then sanded it lightly to bring out the gorgeous details.
Loving this gorgeous country/farmhouse or coastal look!
Thanks for stopping by and as always thank you for always supporting our local business!
