Hi Jay when I wanted to hide the power lines coming into my house I built a "room divider" out of privacy fence panel. You could use the picket fence panels that are only 3 feet tall. It worked great! https://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/a-privacy-fence-room-divider-covering-up-an-outdoor-eye-sore-21296477

My AC man told me to be sure it still gets plenty of air around it if it has an enclosure. Otherwise, it won't be as efficient as it should be.
this was for hiding trashcans outside but would 100% also work for an HVAC. https://www.charlestoncrafted.com/simple-diy-way-to-hide-your-trash-cans/

Yes, you can build a small fence to surround the HVAC, maybe just 3 sides if it is against the house. You can use reclaimed fence parts and cut it down so it isn't too tall.
I've seen it done with lattice, very pretty, easy to work with and inexpensive.
Hello Jay,
Mark out the area you wish to cover. Buy and fix fence posts into the ground (fence panels are normally 6' long) using Met posts or concreting them in using Post fix. Then attach you fence panels to the upright posts! Hey Presto!
