There are tons of options out there, Nikki. You can use bookcases or 2-drawer file cabinets as a base and put a door our countertop over them, I've even seen someone use an old dresser. Here's a link to get you started:

I started with a fold up camping table for years. I honestly dont believe it is worth building your own if you want all the drawers and cupboards. It is cheaper to buy one. If you do want to make your own. For is a video to help. https://youtu.be/4TQYEw4dqBM
You could make a craft table from anything a old kitchen table a tv cart and add a board to the top get a old clean trash can and put a board on top and use for storage to You could get 8 small storage bins or shelf units and add a piece of wood on top or plexiglass to the top this way you will have 4 draws on each side for storage and you could sit at the desk .

The first step is to build the base just a bit smaller than the top size you want to use. Use 4” x 4”s, 2” x 2”s, anything you want for the legs. The standard height for a tabletop is 29”, so cut the legs to that minus the thickness of the top. Example: If you’re using a top that’s 3/4” thick the legs will be 28-1/4” long
(29” - 3/4” = 28-1/4”). Use 1” x 6” wood to make a ‘band’ around the legs to hold everything together. In other words, screw the
1” x 6” boards to the legs to hold everything together. I am a big fan of the ‘glue and screw’ method (self explanatory. Now attach the top by screwing small pieces of wood flush with the top of the 1” x 6” boards and screwing through them to secure the top.
When I was first putting a shop together I used different objects to make tops for workbenches. I once used the top from a ping-pong table someone had given me. I’ve even used a door.
It depends on how fancy. You can use simply a pair of saw horses and a flat door, or 2 drawer file cabinets and put a door or ready made counter on it or go to a thrift store a get an old dining or kitchen table for very cheap.
Garage sales Consignment shops and thrift stores sometimes can be more cost-effective than building a table. Just an alternative thought. That’s where I got my craft table secondhand.
Hi Nikki, here's a video with one way to go about making a table. I've found it is good to create a table high enough that I can stand at it to work, rather than a regular height table. Bookcases beneath are a good start. Hope the video is helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ2u8FcdVmw

You could use an inexpensive folding table for a craft table. If not then check garage sales for an old kitchen or dining room table, you could always paint it.
I'd look for something second hand you could paint to match your style
