How do I make slates for a bed??
I'm trying to make the frame for a porch swing bed. Im not sure how big to make them and what kind of wood to use. Thanks you all. OH and should I make it a twin or full? I appreciate all your help with my projects I am trying to do. Its a very LONG process for me lol I am close to finishing a few but if my body/hands get really grumpy I cant do much. Which I hate..... It is what it is. thanks again for your help. Stay safe n enjoy the time you all have together.

Hi Katie whether you choose to build a full or a twin (I think I would vote for a twin) the slats you choose to make and use will be determined by how much support you have under them. If its more than three feet between supports I would encourage you to use 2xs of some kind (such as 2x4s) but if you have more support than that 1x4s or 1x6s would work great!
For a porch swing, I would make it a twin, unless you have a really large porch! lol For the slats, head to your local lumber yard or home improvement store and get some 1x4's and you should be all set! I can't wait to see it when it's done!
I would use exterior plywood for the support of the bed.
As for the size, it would be dictated by your area. You don't want to over power the area with the swing. To decide, chalk off the area and put cardboard up to see how much room you will have.
Maybe you can gather some ideas from this tutorial!
