I keep the pretty blue ones for window sills, but, you can use them outdoors with solar lights in the garden. Unfortunately, we can no longer recycle glass here, so I 'm seeing more bottle trees. Good luck and stay safe!

DIY Wine Bottle Lights With Pretty Cement Bases
Hi there,
Put them on top of garden canes for safety. - Plant canes in the garden at all angles and pop them on top to make sculptures. - Plant them at the side of a path on canes or bury them upside down as an edging. - Tie string around the necks and make a mobile. - Bury them in a wall to add interest. We have a bottle that has J on the base buried into the house wall as we are both J's, just for the fun of it! - Cut with a glass cutter and make tumblers or vases or funnels etc..............Have fun!
