Easy Ivy Topiary
Create this easy ivy topiary to add character and charm to your home. You can use any kind of decorative container but I like the look of an urn because I like the proportion of the urn's shape coupled with the round topiary
The first thing you’re going to need is some kind of circular frame. You can use heavy wire or a wire coat hanger and form your own. Or if you have an old pathetic tomato cage laying around like I did — you can use that!
Cut the center ring off of the tomato cage with wire cutters.
Cut the ring open with your wire cutters. Use needle nosed pliers to bend the two ends down about 2 inches. This will be your form
Insert the legs of the ring securely into the potting mix in the ivy pot and wrap the ivy vines around the form. Use small pieces of floral wire to hold them in place if needed
Put a couple of inches of gravel into the bottom of your urn for drainage. Place the ivy pot and topiary into your urn. Then all you need is some moss on top of the pot and you’re good to go!
