How do you preserve a paper lable onto a glassbottle?
I have some unique glass bottles with paper labels that I want to use for projects. I don't want the paper label to get damaged, so I would like to know if anyone has had experience preserving paper labels onto glass jars or bottles? I was thinking of using clear spray lacquer that I use with some of my smaller woodworking projects, but I'm not sure if it would cause any damage to the labels or the print on the labels. I don't want to use clear tape of any kind because the bottles may get wet, hence preserving the labels.

I use decoupage gel on paper all the time with no running of the ink or damage. You can control your application with a small foam brush so it won't get on the glass the way spray might. They also make it in several formulas so you can choose a satin, shine or matte.
I think I would try a polycrylic first. Its a water based sealant so it won't yellow the labels and its much less harsh than the polyurethanes and lacquers.
There are some preservation ideas over here in this forum

Hopefully that helps
I would use mod podge to seal it
Same here. Mod podge- comes in several finishes from gloss to matte.
Mod podge to seal it
I would use a spray sealer over the entirety of the outside of the bottle. If you preserve the label only you run the risk of an edge not being completely sealed and water getting under the label. I would also use a spray so that it goes on evenly. If you brush something on you will run the risk of brush lines and waves in the paper.
Hi! I would suggest Mod Podge, mainly because it doesn't damage paper. Stay safe!
Mod Podge would probably work best
