Make my larger space more comfortable

Think about dividing it into 'areas'. First, a place to work - table, countertop, etc. If you are involved in multiple crafts, have an area for each of them - sewing, scrapbooking, etc. Then look at your storage....what do you have and what do you need.

Perhaps,, as already suggested, dividing areas would work well in your larger area. Maybe divding it by "sitting-type" crafts and standing crafts would be a great start. Also, sometimes it does take some time for a space to begin to feel like "home", so maybe as you do your crafting you'll reorganize a few things that work better for you. Here's some good info....

I would love to have a separate crafting room, whatever its size. Right now I have craft materials in various places in my home and it's very frustrating.

Hi Crystal. Make a section in your new room for relaxing. Perhaps a couple comfortable chairs with a small coffee table. Use your crafting talent to decorate it. And the other part of the room could house a big desk to work at. Bring your crafting supplies in slowly and have a place ready for them. Good luck Crystal. I hope you are well.

Oh post a pic we would love to see and give you greater detail. I have a long large room in my house and what I did is create sections to make it feel more cozy. An area for table and eating, an area for conversation with couches. If needed, you can always break up the space using a wall curtain treatment to create a room divider. Another idea is checking out IKEA and their bookshelf dividers that you can access from both sides. This will create sections in your large room. Good luck!

That is ike moving from a small well organized kitchen to a much larger one with more storage and counter space to prepare things. It will give you a disjointed feel, but you'll get used to it.

If you have a long counter, you might section it off with Washi tape, different set ups for different crafts. You might need more supplies for storage.

I could adding a reading or thinking section :) A large oversized chair or divan that you can curl up on and read for inspiration or work on a laptop or do some thinking :)

Your issue is probably an "at your fingertips" problem. In the smaller space you could just reach and grab much easier. Think about how you use items and try to group them together. I just moved mine as well and now I have a table for my cricut as well as my sewing machine and I feel like they are a mile apart.

You may also want to add some decor to the larger space to make it feel more home like.

Think about items, how they are used and the frequency. Then position them so they are not only grouped together but placed closer if used more often.

Divide the area into smaller areas made for different things. One area for storing supplies, one for working, etc.

IMO one of the key aspects to a comfortable crafts room is having proper lighting that is the right type and intensity for the different tasks at hand.

This room appears to be formerly set up as a living/dining room. If so, then the present lighting is not going to be suitable or sufficient for crafts.

Fortunately you have beautiful big windows already in the room which offer lots of natural light. What you will need to add is focussed lighting concentrated for the various detailed activities. If needed, you may want to eventually have additional electrical plugs installed for the machines and lamps rather than having too many cumbersome extension cords.
